Where my heart STILL is

By Leslie Valenzuela

3yrs ago, on Feb 17th, i moved in to El Catey to serve alongside the Dorseys in Del Corazón. The Lord has shown his favor and covering over us in many ways. He has opened opportunities to serve thru the clinic, with consults and medical outreaches and engaging in activities with the local schools,

Thru evangelism by the morning devotionals we held weekly; i have seen the ones who attend know more of who our Lord is. There is one man that attends, his name is Tomas, i have seen him open up thru this years, at first he would just nod and agree to the readings and prayers. One day at one of our last devo for the year, he prayed outloud, thanking God for his family, after that he started to participate more, and now he prays outloud every time. It has been so beautiful to see him grow in Him.

The Lord also allowed me to grow more in my career as a doctor by opening the door to go back to school to become a Nutritionist. I am so thankful for the support i received thru Fame and Del Corazón to pursue this degree that allows me to teach the people of El Catey to eat better withing their budget, so they can achieve a better and healthier life and lower the risk of non transmitted diseases such as Hypertension and Diabetes.

Back in July last year, we had the Harding family serving with us in coaching little leagues and with an aerobics class for the ladies. After they left, the Lord open the opportunity to continue to reach out to the ladies thru exercise and nutrition. Now we have an aerobic class and after that i led a Bible study, teaching them who our God is, who is his son, how can we receive him, what is the bible, and engage them into pray more for their community.

The Lord so gracefully has allowed me to be part of all this and so much more. I get to call this community my home, to serve them, to learn with them, mourn with them, rejoice with them, and continue to pray for Gods will to be done here, for He said: “this land is fruitfull”. The verse from Isaiah 43:19:” Behold, I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it?
I will even make a road in the wilderness And rivers in the desert”.   This is my word for this new year, and i’m believing for new things that He would allow in El Catey, in its people, and in us in Del Corazón.

I am so humbled and thankful for each one of you that has prayed and its praying for us, for this ministry, for your generosity by donating finnacial support, by taking time and serving with us, and so blessed by being able to serve where my heart still is,El Catey.
